Born VERVIERS, ( Belgium) 1962. He began playing drums in 1978. Studied at the Musicians' Institute of Los Angeles 1985-1986. Won the soloist's prize at the International Festival of Francophone Jazz in 1991. Has toured extensively on the pop and jazz stages most notably with John Scofield, Michel Petrucciani, Scott Henderson, Michel Portal, Toots Thielemans and Mike Stern. Most recently, he has been developing his own music in the Charlier-Sourisse duo which has so far produced 3 albums : "Gemini" in 2001, "Eleven Blues" in 2004 and "Héritage" in 2007. Co-author, with Benoît Sourisse of the "Charlier-Sourisse" Notebooks, a jazz method published by Leduc, Charlier is head of the drum department at the Didier Lockwood Music School. His contribution to the Cézame catalogue so far are the fruits of collaborations with Benoît Sourisse, Manu Galvin , Jean-Jacques-Milteau, Michel Gaucher and Jean Gobinet. Latest release: "Nos Années Ciné"/"Cinematic 60's Pop & Jazz". (CEZ. 4075), an homage to French cinema of the 50's and 60's.
